Help! I have never pruchased a pair of these lovely pants. I recieved the wondrful gift of $ for my b-day (that always fits!) Now I don't know what size pants to buy. I would LOVE Melodia black sash pants!! I have a 28 1/2 inch inseam and I usually wear between a 10-12. I have sort of a J-Lo butt. Will the 33's be too long??? Thanks for the help.

Re: Size help for a shorty and a curvy
Thu, May 15, 2008 - 9:03 PMI have a 28-inch inseam and I can wear 33s fine. They completely obscure my feet and drag on the floor a little bit, but as long as I'm aware of where the fabric is while I'm walking/dancing, I have no issues with my inherent clumsiness.
Watch out for the fabrics that run long, though, because a 33 in those may not actually be a 33! Usually those are labelled by the owner if you come across those, but you can always use the tribe's search function if you want a more specific idea of which fabrics run long.

Re: Size help for a shorty and a curvy
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 2:09 AMThe 33s will be too long, but it is not that hard to shorten them. I prefer to do so in the upper thigh area, so that the cut is somewhat hidden by the sash and is easy to conceal under a short dance skirt.

Re: Size help for a shorty and a curvy
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 2:29 AMgood question. one i have been going back and forth over. i have a 30 " inseam, but am rather tiny. i wear size 3s and have virtually no butt. and i am a total klutzes. i step and trip on pant legs and skirt tails all the time when walking and dancing. for this reason i only have one pair of pants i can really dance in. so i am worried getting a s 33 will swallow me and leave me in a pile on the floor.

Re: Size help for a shorty and a curvy
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 2:43 AMi'm going to say 33's will be (way) too long~
2 good ways to shorten melos are to ruch at the outside and inside knee seams to take up some length, like this: melodiapants.tribe.net/photos...065a4f, or to shorten them at the thigh.
you want to avoid shortening from the bottom to preserve the bell shape of the flares.
here are some past threads on shortening if you want to check them out~

Re: Size help for a shorty and a curvy
Thu, May 22, 2008 - 8:26 PMOOOOkay. Thanks for all the previous advice I am going to go with the 33 I figure that too long is better than too short right? So now size.... I am between a 10 and 12 size wise I am about 5 foot 2 and am about 160 lbs, scary putting that out there, but I need help sooo....Now the question remains do I get a large 33 inseam or a medium 33 inseam???I dont want to swim in them, but I don't want them to be like tights and get frustrated because I spent so much on pants that don't fit. Again the assistnace of this smart and sassy group is appreciated. Soon I'll be basking in glow of Melodias

Re: Size help for a shorty and a curvy
Sat, May 17, 2008 - 2:03 PMSounds like we're built pretty similar...
I'm 5'3" with a 28-29" inseam (its somewhere in there, been a while since I measured the decimal).. I tend to wear a size 12.. but can swing into either a 10 to 14. I've got what my boyfriend refers to as a cute perky butt *laughs*.
I have one pair Melodias - specialty fabric, admittedly. I bought an L33. the length 33 does drag on the floor a bit if I'm not in heels but like someone else said, is fine if I'm careful. I actually like it because the fabric is pretty clingy (brown Crackles ROCK!) and its scoot the clinging fabric up a bit, because its slightly see through.
Personally, I think the next pair I get will be 31. But the 33s aren't bad. -

Re: Size help for a shorty and a curvy
Sat, May 17, 2008 - 4:43 PMDo they make the pants size medium in a 31 length?? I had thought they did not. That would be fantastic if they made the medium shorter!! Is is possible anyone, Beuller???? -

Re: Size help for a shorty and a curvy
Sat, May 17, 2008 - 8:53 PMI'm 5'8" and with a 28 1/2-29" inseam (I know, pretty freaky), and I wear a size 10 or 12 in pants. L33's in *most* fabrics seem to be made for me. I don't get much drag with mine at all. I would probably guess that a big factor determining whether or not the 33's would be too long is how fleshy your legs are. I have really muscular thighs, so a lot of the length seems to be absorbed by the four-way stretchiness of the melos. If you tend to have slightly thinner limbs, you probably will have some drag with the 33's -

Re: Size help for a shorty and a curvy
Thu, May 22, 2008 - 8:29 PMI have thicker thighs and calves so I will as you said absorb some of the fabric too. I never thought buying pants would be so stressful......But I am ecited and it will be very worth it. : ) -

Re: Size help for a shorty and a curvy
Fri, May 23, 2008 - 7:22 AMIf you try the pants on and they don't quite work you can exchange them for a different size. My hubby got some for me for Christmas and they were too long. The Melo team was awsome about exchanging them.
